Our Team

Poseidon Retsinas

FOUNDING PARTNER

Poseidon has over 16 years of experience as a negotiator of trading documentation (Prime Brokerage, ISDA, Futures Clearing, Repo, Custody, etc). Prior to founding HedgeLegal, he was responsible for the onboarding and negotiation of all trading documentation for Innocap, one of the world's largest hedge fund managed account platforms with over 7 Billion in assets under management. His experience spans a wide range of product lines as well as investment strategies. Poseidon has extensive experience in Prime Broker selection, prime finance and pricing negotiations and has built strong relationships across the street with brokers, allocators and managers.

Poseidon has a diverse international experience. In addition to being admitted to the New York Bar and Quebec Bar, Poseidon was an associate at a premier global law firm in London, Clifford Chance, where he specialized in derivatives. Poseidon obtained his law degree from McGill University and holds a Master’s degree in Law and Accounting from the London School of Economics. Poseidon’s articles have been published in the Hedge Fund Law Report, Hedgeweek and HFM Week. He is frequently a speaker on industry panels.

Cristina Brodeur-Reda

ASSOCIATE

Cristina Brodeur-Reda is an attorney with a diverse legal background, having worked in civil litigation at Kalman Samuels, Attorneys. She is a graduate of University of Ottawa Law and a member of the Quebec Bar. Prior to her work at Kalman Samuels, Cristina was an Insolvency Technician with Ginsberg Gingras and was part of the restructuring department. Cristina has advised clients on a variety of matters, ranging from financial restructuring to civil liability, and has made representations before the Superior Court and Court of Appeal of Quebec.

Cristina believes in giving back to the community and has assisted immigrant women in acquiring status and contributed to research for the repeal of a detrimental section of federal refugee legislation. Cristina’s experience in diverse areas of law has provided her with a unique perspective and has contributed to her ability in providing creative solutions for her clients.

Maeva Racine

ASSOCIATE

Maeva is an attorney with a pronounced interest in finance and prides herself on her accuracy and work ethic. Prior to joining HedgeLegal, Maeva worked at Otéra Capital, a subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, one of the world’s largest pension funds. She also previously completed an internship with the Superior Court of Quebec and has passionately volunteered in many non-profit organizations such as the University of Montreal Health Centre.

She is a member of the Quebec Bar and holds a law degree from the University of Montreal. Most recently, her intellectual curiosity has led her to complete a certificate in Alternative Investments at Harvard Business School Online. Maeva’s keen ability to target key issues within complex problems and communicate them in a clear and concise manner allows her to provide valuable solutions to her clients.

Salvatore Vaccarino

ASSOCIATE

Salvatore is an attorney with experience in commercial transactions and corporate litigation. He holds a Civil Law degree (LL.B.) from the University of Montreal and is a member of the Quebec Bar. Prior to joining HedgeLegal, Salvatore worked for a boutique firm in Montreal making important contributions to complex shareholder disputes and class action lawsuits. Before his legal studies, Salvatore graduated from McGill University with a B.A. in Political Science and History.

Salvatore is a passionate attorney with a keen interest for both the philosophical and practical aspects of the law. He deploys innovation, strategic thinking and creativity to help his clients succeed, and is able to tackle challenging issues with enthusiasm and endurance.

Carly Rosenfeld

ASSOCIATE

Carly is an attorney with a background in various areas of law, including commercial transactions, corporate law, and civil litigation, having made representations before different administrative tribunals, the Court of Quebec, and the Superior Court of Quebec. Prior to joining HedgeLegal, she worked at a boutique law firm in Montreal where her creativity and aptitude for finding practical solutions allowed her to effectively advise clients at all stages of the legal process.

She is a member of the Quebec Bar and holds Common Law and Civil Law degrees from McGill University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University in Political Science and Economics. During her studies, she passionately volunteered at a legal information clinic, the McGill Innocence Project, and for a non-profit organization in her community, as well as completed Tel Aviv University’s international exchange program at the Buchmann Faculty of Law.

Zachary Ziegler

ASSOCIATE

Zachary has a wide breadth of experience, having practiced intellectual property law, commercial law, and civil and corporate litigation, where he represented clients before various administrative tribunals, the Court of Quebec, and the Superior Court of Quebec. Due to his sustained interest in finance, he has found a home at Hedge Legal, and approaches files with the perspective afforded by exposure to different practice areas. This allows him to fully service clients and communicate efficiently with all stakeholders in a given negotiation. Zachary has a Juris Doctor (J.D.), a Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.) and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from McGill University and is a member of the Quebec Bar since 2021. During his studies, he participated and jointly led numerous clubs, such The McGill Sports and Entertainment Law Association (MSELA), as well as volunteered for The Legal Information Clinic at McGill (LICM).

Stephanie Gervais

ASSOCIATE

Stephanie is an attorney with experience in contracts and civil law. Prior to joining HedgeLegal, she worked at one of the world’s largest mining corporations in the legal commercial division of their Montreal office.

She holds a Civil Law degree (L.L.L.) from the University of Ottawa, a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Political Science from Concordia University, and is a member of the Quebec Bar. Known for her strategic thinking and commitment to excellence, Stephanie is dedicated to delivering results that drive success for clients.

Sahar Babaï

Financial Controller and Analyst

Sahar has over 15 years of experience as a controller, accountant and analyst. In her previous role she served as a business analyst at Metrobec, one of Canada’s largest firms specializing in trading, recycling and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal. She worked closely with management and traders to analyse daily market prices of metals. Sahar holds a bachelors degree in Accounting and Business/Management from Concordia University.

Max Dayan

Student-at-law

Max Dayan is a law student with an LL.L from the University of Ottawa. He is now studying at the University of Montreal to obtain his J.D. Before joining HedgeLegal, Max spent time as a Student-at-Law in a civil litigation firm that specialized in family law. Max is extremely passionate about finance and sees HedgeLegal as the perfect place to use the legal skills he has developed in the most dynamic way possible.

Julia Yetman

Student-at-law

Julia is a law student working towards a dual degree (BCL/JD) at McGill University. She is a graduate of Yale University where she earned a BA in Political Science in 2019. Julia comes from a diverse professional background, having played professional ice hockey in Stockholm while working for a Swedish medical technology company as a Marketing Associate. She also worked as a Compliance Analyst for two years prior to joining HedgeLegal. Julia is a team player who looks forward to using her varied skill set at HedgeLegal to provide innovative solutions to clients.
